Proposed advertisement for XP

Filed under: Humor, Roleplaying — AusRPGer @ 12:13 am

Some time in the post I wrote a joke advert for WinXP based on a RPG senario. I recently found it in Google Groups and have reposted it here for your enjoyment. :)

Two D&D players are walking down the road.
Player 1 is a white male, age 17-19. Player 2 is a white female, age 17-19.

Player 1: My character is only 3rd level. It is taking so long to get to 4th.
Player 2: Well my char is 6th level.
Player 1: Wow, how did you do that so fast? I’m finding it so hard to earn enough eXperience Points.
Player 2: Recently I installed Windows XP on my character. It comes with MyRPG XP which makes it so much easier to keep track of my characters’s eXperience Points, making sure i don’t loose any points & that i get all the bonuses.

[Player 2 turns to face the camera smiling. She is prominently holding her character sheet with Windows XP installed.]

See the original usernet post on Google Groups here.

Tinned tomatoes

Filed under: Music — Leefe @ 11:07 pm

Had this rhyme stuck in my head (about tomatoes, tins and a market) but I couldn’t remember the whole thing. Did a bit of googling and this is what I decided it should be:

To market, to market with my brother jim
When somebody threw a tomato at him
Tomatoes are soft & they don’t bruise the skin
But this one killed Jim; it was wrapped in a tin!

Buzzle in the news again

Filed under: Mac, Tech — Leefe @ 7:06 pm

Buzzle, the failed merger of 80% of the Australian Mac resellers, is in the news again 5 years after they went splat. Apparently the Buzzle liquidator is suing Apple for for contributing to the companies colapse.

Can’t post to MacJams

Filed under: Mac, Music — Leefe @ 11:40 pm

I was finally got round to writing my first full length soung in GarageBand. And I was going to post it to MacJams but found I didn’t have the status to do so :(

Sorry, you must earn 20 participation points before uploading a song.

Participation points can be earned by taking various actions in our community. For example, each post you make in our forums, each comment you make about a song, or each new story or article you submit to the site will earn you points.

The easiest way to earn points is to comment on the songs of others. The longer, more involved comment you leave, the more points you’ll get.

You can see how many points you currently have by clicking “My Profile” in the “My MacJams” box on the upper right corner of the screen.

A bit disappointing. Finally got round to writting something and I can’t post it. Have to comment on someone else’s work now I suppose.

WP Theme

Filed under: Blog, Tech — Leefe @ 2:42 am

The default theme is nice :), except that the date format is fixed in the USA format :(

Looks like I an going to have to find a different theme, or hack this one so the date is displayed in the correct international format.

Just installed Word Press

Filed under: Blog, Tech — Leefe @ 1:46 am

Just installed a new blog software, WordPress. Used to have Movable Type, but only made about 1 post and got annoyed with it (so haven’t used it since early last year). Hope this new package is nicer, but it does seem that way so far.
