It’s not easy being green

Filed under: Humor, T-shirt, Web sites — Leefe @ 8:50 pm

Reduce Carbon EmissionsIn the world of the eco friendly do you find that it isn’t easy being green?
Are there too many rules to remember?

The theme of round 2 of he Iron Webmaster competition is ‘Go Green‘. With a push for environmentally friendliness, organics and global warming.

For my entry I entry I have produced a site promoting reduction of carbon emissions, and how you can contribute to this.

Go visit the It’s not easy being green site, and find the Eco Message.

Then go vote ‘Best’ for it on the Rate page. Remember to leave a comment before selecting the rating.

Edit:
And the thing I forgot to include is a link to the Cafepress shop. So here it is: Eco Message #03

Juxtaposition of architecture

Filed under: Photos — Leefe @ 9:30 am

It is interesting to see some of the juxtaposition of architecture around inner city Sydney. Like this nice terrace of Federation houses just off King St in Newtown, with the big ugly Telstra building sitting in their backyards.

England reclaims America

Filed under: Blog, Humor — Leefe @ 2:13 pm

Do you find programs with English dictionaries where all the spelling is actually in U.S. English annoying? Or that a ‘World series’ doesn’t include people outside America?

I found a funny take on this in John Cleese’s “Letter to America”. A notice revoking their independence and informing them of the changes that will be made.

It is very funny and worth a read.

Iron-on Webmaster

Filed under: Web sites — Leefe @ 11:55 pm

Iron-on WebmasterAs a promotional device WebRing has decided to run a Iron Webmaster competition. Intended to be like the Iron Chef TV show, contestants are given a series of specifications and asked to whip up a website in a number of days.

Though the actual Iron Webmaster site could do with some work. As a note left on their scrolling text thing put it, if this site were entered into the Iron Webmaster competition it would loose.

Go find my round 2 (parody) Valentines site here. And for those people feeling generous, go vote ‘best’ for my site here.

Playground for little kids or big kids?

Filed under: Baby, Photos — Leefe @ 11:51 pm

Closed but not locked.Camperdown Memorial park children’s playground is in disrepair. From the pile of empty bottles outside the playground it looks as if there was a party in the playground. And a rowdy one at that.

The lock on the gate is broken. So without an ever constant eye a child may escape. Or a dog may enter.

Sandpit or ashtray? And both sand pits are full of cigarette buts. Not to mention the odd bottle cap and piece of glass. Not really the thing for a kids playground. I can see some kid slicing their foot open.

The sandpits need someone to run them through a sieve, like they do at the major beaches.

Come un-swungNow the broken swing I can’t definitely blame on the apparent party, but it is another sign of disrepair.

Considering inner city Sydney has a baby boom, it would be nice if facilities for children were kept in better repair.

Moved blog to new url…

Filed under: Blog, Search — Leefe @ 11:54 pm

Just moved my blog to a new domain, Leefe.RatesTheWorld.com.au. I think this will work better in the long run, but is a pain in the short run.

All the things you have to do when moving sites.

You have to tell Google and Yahoo about your new site, and add sitemaps again. Then wait the month or more while their indexes update.

Not to mention that Technorati has no means for moving your blog from one domain to another. You have to add the moved blog to your Technorati Profile as a new blog, loosing your previous links and ranking.

So make sure the old url forwards to the new one for the foreseeable future, or you will loose a lot of traffic as nobody will be able to find you.

I should probably also update my Google Analytics profile for this blog.

Plus the new URL needs a new look and feel. Though I think that can wait. The old theme still looks ok, and will do till a new one can be found or produced.

Ah, the joys of moving sites. Not something you want to do everyday.
