Storm moving in over NorthbridgeThe family Christmas picnic was postponed a week this year due to the storms. Unfortunately, it seems, the storms decided to return today just to spite us.

As luck would have it, we got a call to tell us the storm was coming. Packing up at Brontie just before the downpour hit. And relocated to somewhere indoors nearby.

As could be expected, many of the other people at Brontie decided to relocate and we got stuck in traffic (as you can see from the picture below). While in Northbridge the storm came round for a second pass. Although the rain was not as worrying this time, being indoors (top right).Storm over Mosman

Queuing for Christmas

Mad crowds at Coles Broadway on Christmas eve? Outside it didn’t look that bad. Inside there were lots of people, but the isles were not jammed full.

The checkouts at one end were quite full. You can see even the ‘Self-Scan‘ checkouts (they put in to replace the Express ones) have a queue. Although the checkouts down the other end were not as crowded.

Perhaps this might be rectified be having a staff member noticing and better allocating people to checkouts? No, I suppose they were all too worked off their feet to do customer management.

And, although it was very busy, it didn’t feel overly crowded. Possibly after after experiencing Tokyo trains at peek hour other experiences pale in comparison.

It’s already Christmas in Tokyo

Christmas on sale at Tokyo HandsWalking around Shinjuku I found that it is already Christmas in Tokyo.

Tokyo Hands in the Takashimaya building has a display of Christmas decorations on sale. Including a snowman build from a frame of little lights, and many other light decorations.

And beside the building there is a walkway of arches covered on fairy lights. Which was turned on, for all of about 10 minutes, to test if it work correctly.
