When Dr Who needs to chill out, he reaches for his Tardis bong… #photo

Walking past Galaxy Bookshop in Sydney CBD I noticed what Dr Who must use when he needs to chill out… the Tardis bong. Oh, wait, it’s just a tea pot.

Why is there a Tardis bong in the window of @GalaxyBookshop? Oh, it's a tea pot

Fruit shown is illustrative of flavour only and is not an Ingredient of the product

Don’t those new 13 flavour weeks Slurpees from 7 Eleven look interesting? I’ve seen ones that are half watermelon, half strawberry, and the latest one is half passion fruit.

But wait. Have your read the text at the bottom of the advertising posters?

Fruit shown is illustrative of flavour only and is not an Ingredient of the product

But you were expecting that won’t you? Just a reminder of what you are eating/drinking, or more so, not eating/drinking, in that next Slurpee you buy.

I can not divine the use for these ‘Divination Symbols’, can you?

Looking through the Mac OS X Character Viewer, I see there is a section for ‘Divination Symbols‘.

They all look like blocks of horizontal lines in a variety of combinations. Some full times, some with breaks in the middle and other more like a series of dots.

What do you use them for?

Apart from roleplaying games that is.

I mean, who needs a symbol called a ‘Tetragram for Constancy’, a ‘Tetragram for Aggravation’, or a ‘Tetragram for Eternity’?

They might be useful for saying things like:

There will be Constant Aggravation for Eternity
or
An Abundance of Enthusiasm on Completion

Are there any better suggestions?

Photos of Lightcloud, @MPesce’s #sekritproject seen at @Fishburners tonight

Tonight Mark Pesce showed off his secret project at Fishburners. A light cube with integrated computer/web server, that can be remotely controlled via Wi-Fi; can react to movement of the cube; and can talk to another cube via Wi-Fi.

Big Domain Sale @NetregistryNetregistry currently has a promotional discount offer on .com.au and .com domains displayed on its from page. But if you try to register one,  the error message below is displayed (click the image to enlarge).

So, it looks like Netregistry’s registration system is broken. What a bad time for it to happen.

I wonder if they have noticed?

Should we just put UTS on ice? (photo)

Walking past the UTS Tower Building this morning a spied an ice rink under construction. A woman stood there filling the rink with water  to be frozen by the tubes running underneath.

Is this what happens when lecturers tell you to ‘get your skates on‘?

With a quick search, I see there is an event of from 10 to 26 August where you can book to skate for 45 minutes.

What is the collective noun for people wearing fluoro? (photo)

Walking past Central Park in Broadway, Ultimo today I noticed this large group of people wearing fluoro vests walking along together. Which sparked the question, what do you call a group of people wearing fluoro? What is the correct collective noun?

At one point I would have said the correct term was ‘ravers’, but, as social norms have changed, so too has the collective noun. It appears these days, that the correct collective noun for people fluoro, is ‘workers’?

[Insert customer data privacy clause or law here, if applicable]

Don’t you just love sites where the owners forget to update defaults or fill in bits that have been left blank in the default template? It just shows those who are ‘detail oriented’, or not.

If you look at the screen shot from an online store below, you will notice at the bottom text where it prompts the owner to:
